What kills in Vegas?
This week, one of the finest #VEGASITE creations, once again, stayed in Vegas.
The Killers are Vegas born and bred. While the post-punk rockers found and nurtured their sound, Sin City was flooded with metal and rap acts. The band’s first gig on record was at Café Espresso Roma’s open mic night January 2002. Las Vegas’ locals formed a cult fan base, but, The Killers refused to be confined and took their intensely pop-inspired act on the road.
The Killers big break came when “Mr. Brightside” premiered on Zane Lowe’s BBC Radio 1 show and consequently found the band a huge following. Exceptional albums were to follow, “Hot Fuss”, “Sam’s Town”, “Day & Age” and “Battle Born” all topped the indie kid UK charts.
The band’s musical talent has been recognised with seven Grammy Award nominations, as well as multiple Brit Awards and NME Awards They’ve even made fans of megastars such as Jay-Z, David Bowie, Oasis and your’s truly.
As their popularity continues to grow, The Killers have extended their worldwide tours, but, they still remain true to their roots. True to their unwavering city pride, Las Vegas hosted its old friends on its newest stage, christening MGM’s eagerly anticipated The Park and T-Mobile Arena. A lot happens in Vegas, some kills, but, only the best come back.
